Frequently Asked Questions
What is Writing from Source?
Writing from Source is a guided process that uses written responses to specific statements to connect with that deeper part of you – your “Source” – to gain insights, clarity, guidance and/or answers about a specific situation in your life. This process is about listening to and receiving guidance, not about writing. See Process for more information.
Who is Writing from Source for?
This is a powerful, effective process for anyone seeking clarity and direction for a specific situation in their life. For example, you may be facing a big decision, such as a job change, moving to another city, or downsizing your home. You may be struggling with your role change when your child goes out on their own or you get promoted. You may feel stumped about which step to take next with a project. You may be seeking guidance on how to handle a difficult relationship.
What is Source?
Source goes by many names. Regardless of the name we give it, Source is that essence inside us of deep knowing. You may view Source as your intuition or inner wisdom. You may define Source as God, the Higher Power, Divine Intelligence, the Universe, All That Is. You may describe Source as love, light, beauty, truth or your heart. Or you may refer to Source some other way. For me, Source encompasses all of these names, hence the name Writing from Source.
Is Writing from Source religious?
Similar to meditation, mindfulness, prayer or tuning into your intuition, Writing from Source is a means to connect to the amazing power that resides inside you. It is not associated with any religion. Some people view it as a spiritual practice while others see it as a means for accessing the subconscious mind. The beauty of the process is that it works regardless of your personal beliefs. Writing from Source focuses on building a relationship with your own inner wisdom, however you define it.
Is Writing from Source a writing course?
No, this is not a course about how to write or how to improve your writing. Writing from Source does, however, use the act of writing as the means to receive and record the insights and guidance you seek. Your writing can be messy, fragmented and full of misspellings. That doesn’t matter. What you write down is for your eyes only, for you to share with others only if and when you choose to do so.
How is Writing from Source different from journaling?
While regular journaling is a great tool for reflection, Writing from Source is a more focused, intentional process. As you respond to specific statements, you receive direct answers from your inner self. My role as your coach is to create a safe space, provide the structure, guide you through the process, answer your questions and help you interpret the messages you receive.
What does the coaching process look like?
As your coach and guide, I accompany you step-by-step through the Writing from Source session, from helping you get centered and in a receptive frame of mind to guiding you in interpreting the messages you receive. The process has four key parts: Preparation, The 3 Statements, the Closing, and the Post-Session Review. Along the way, I explain what we are doing with each of the steps and why. I address any questions or concerns that you may have and I review with you your responses to each of the steps. Before we wrap up our time together, I help you get the greatest benefit from your session by assisting you in choosing how you will actually use the insights, clarity, guidance or answers that Writing from Source has revealed to you. See Explore for more information.
What outcome can I expect from a Writing from Source session?
When you fully engage with the Writing from Source process, you can expect to receive clarity, insights, guidance and/or answers for the situation or issue you identified at the beginning of the session. For example, you may gain clarity about how to approach a specific problem. You may receive creative inspiration. Or you may find yourself making a decision with greater confidence.
In the final step of the process, you identify the steps you will take to apply the information received. The greatest benefits of your Writing from Source session happen in the following days and weeks as you actually follow through with the steps you identified.
